How I got my skin out of trouble: my new favourite face mask

I’ve been a fan of From Roses’ blog for a while, ever since I first came across her on one of Jen Carrington‘s podcasts. Her photography is simply beautiful and she seems to have a knack of writing about all the things I want to read about! Above all, I love her beauty posts and it was this post in particular that had me trotting off to find my local Origins counter, after reading all about the Original Skin Retexturising Mask.

I tracked one down at the York Boots and was really impressed when the assistant gave me a proper consultation before I purchased, actually saying that the retexturising mask wouldn’t be right for my skin. She directed me instead to the Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask*, which she felt would suit me better, and at the time came with an applicator brush. I also got a free sample of the retexturising mask to take home so I could still try it and see what I thought.

About four months on and after several uses, Out of Trouble is my new favourite face mask, so I thought I really should write about it…

What’s it like to use?

The Out of Trouble mask* contains Zinc Oxide and Camphor, and smells almost medicinal on opening, but in a very clean rather than cloying way. It feels fairly light on the skin, and washes off easily after ten minutes with a flannel or muslin cloth.

The results?

According to Origins, the mask’s ingredients work together “to soak up oily-shine, slough off dead skin cells and sweep away debris.” I’ve got to say, it hasn’t disappointed. I still get spots now and then of course, particularly with hormones, but overall I feel like the mask has served to keep my skin a lot clearer than before, and compliments my existing skincare routine really well. Even better, I’ve been using it less than once a week so it’s going to last me well.

It feels like the perfect product for anyone with oily/combination skin (though obviously always speak to a skincare professional first) and I would highly recommend; Out of Trouble is definitely my new favourite face mask.
