My positivity diary (#16)

park in LondonWell it started off as a miserable, grey affair but I’m glad this weekend brightened up! I hope you’ve had a lovely one whatever you’ve been doing. Here’s my round up of good stuff from the last fortnight…

1. A weekend in the capital

We spent last weekend down in London with my sister Debs and her boyfriend. I hadn’t seen them since February so it was so nice to catch up and spend lots of time chatting over good food and drink. We get along really well as a group of four, which always makes me happy.

2. A first trip to Madame Tussauds

While we were there, Debs and her boyfriend treated us to a trip to Madame Tussauds, which I’ve always wanted to go to. There was so much to see and we got lots of pictures, including this one of us with the Royals! Showing it to the kids in school later in the week was hilarious.

3. The Circle

I have become totally addicted to Channel 4’s latest reality show. If you haven’t seen it, the concept is a group of strangers living in a block of apartments who never meet in person but only interact over social media. They can be themselves or whoever they want to be. I wasn’t sure if it would grip me to begin with but I find myself laughing out loud every night at it. Tomorrow is the final and I’m going to be so sad when it’s over!

4. Autumn sun

Whilst I’m struggling a little with the evenings drawing in, I’m loving the gorgeous, golden Autumn sun. I took this picture the other day as we sped past country fields on the way to work.

5. Cooking success

After being inspired by Celebrity Masterchef recently I had a go at making B√©arnaise sauce to go with our steak and chips a couple of weeks ago. After that less than successful Genoise sponge I was so glad this turned out to be a huge success! I’ve linked the recipe I used here if you fancy a try yourself.

6. A good week at school

It’s been another very tiring but very rewarding week at school. Never would I have dreamt six months ago that my day job would be going in a positivity diary post, and I’m so happy to have found something that I love doing.

7. Delicious Indian food

On Friday night some friends and I went for dinner at The Cat’s Pyjamas in Leeds. I’d been wanting to go ever since I had a Deliveroo from there (which was amazing!) and the food didn’t disappoint. It was such a lovely evening of good food, wine and catching up.

8. Coffee with a friend

Catch-ups are like buses sometimes aren’t they?! After not seeing my friend Sophie for ages, the day after curry I got to see her again for a good cup of coffee and a chat while I was in York. I always feel so happy after seeing close friends and a good natter.

9. Newsletter

My first newsletter went out this morning! I was panicking about it earlier in the week that I didn’t really know what I was doing and it’s taken quite a while to put it all together, but I’m really pleased with the end result. Hoping that people enjoy it! If you haven’t subscribed yet but think you might like to, you can find out more here.

10. An exciting series on the blog

Some wonderful creative business owners that I really admire have agreed to me talking to them about their work. It’s going to be a series of little interviews on the blog and I’m really excited to share it with you.

That’s it for this time, what have been the positives in your world over the last couple of weeks? I’d love to hear!¬†
