My positivity diary (#14)

view of Yorkshire Dales countryside

Happy Sunday you lovely bunch! I hope you’ve all had relaxing weekends, I definitely needed the sleep after the first week back at school and a big old cold to go with it. Thankfully my body fought it off pretty quickly and I’m all good now, here’s my round-up of positives from the fortnight…

1. The return of Bake-Off

One of the things I love about this time of year is all the good telly returning. Bake-Off is one of my absolute faves; I always think it feels like the TV equivalent of snuggling under a blanket with a hot chocolate. So far I’m loving Rahul and Briony, who are your favourites?!

2. A holiday booked

After a summer spent in the UK, it feels so good to have a trip abroad lined up! I’ve wanted to go to the Netherlands for ages, and now we’re going to be spending half-term in Amsterdam and Rotterdam so I’m very excited and am already planning all the things we can do.

3. A Yorkshire mini-break

Aysgarth Falls

After we dog-sat for Aaron’s parents, they very kindly treated us to a night away as a thank you, in the gorgeous Aysgarth in the middle of The Dales. We were lucky with gorgeous weather which made the views all the better, and it was so nice to spend some time away just the two of us.

4. All clear at the dentist

Okay I know you’re going to think I’m MENTAL but I’ve actually always quite liked going to the dentist. I’m a little bit smug that I’ve never had a filling and since I’m a bit of a hypochondriac, getting an all clear that nothing’s wrong always makes me happy.

5. Back-to-school stationery

Paperchase Bando planner

I’m a big stationery geek so the excuse of going back to school was perfect to buy a gorgeous new diary. I bought a planner from Paperchase, complete with drawings from different artists, inspirational quotes and best of all, STICKERS. I love it.

6. Beer garden drinks

Last weekend we spent the evening sat in a beer garden with friends drinking g&ts and it felt like such a nice way to round off the summer, just chilling and chatting.

7. Crazy golf in the sun

Sometimes we can end up not doing much on a Sunday if we don’t have plans so the last few weeks we’ve been trying to make sure we get out and don’t just spend the day on the sofa. Last weekend we ended up playing crazy golf, which of course I lost at by a mile but it was really nice to go and do something different with our morning, especially since it also involved slush puppies at the end.

8. A good first week back

After the summer holiday, I think I (like every other teacher or TA in the country!) was a little apprehensive about going back to school so it feels really good to have settled back in with the first week under my belt.

9. The return of my favourite podcast

I’ve been really enjoying listening to podcasts recently and was very happy that my favourite – ‘What She Said’ – returned last week after a summer hiatus. In it, journalist and blogger Lucy Lucraft interviews different women from the online world and the chats are always really inspiring. I’ve also been enjoying Grow With Soul and Letters From a Hopeful Creative, both of which I’d really recommend if you’re interesting in creative living and business.

10. A weekend by the coast

American fluffy pancakes with berries and maple syrup

view of Robin Hood's Bay from the clifftopThis weekend was spent with some of my uni friends, ten years on from when we first met. We started off with brunch in York and then travelled over to my friend’s parents’ house near Scarborough. Lots of good food was eaten and today we went for a gorgeous walk along the beach to Robin Hood’s Bay which I’d never been to before. The views were amazing and I always love getting some sea air, especially when it’s in the sun.

That’s my round-up for the last couple of weeks, what are the good things in your world right now?
